Barnsley Trades Council invites you to join both of these events that we are organising
Workers Memorial Day
Friday April 28th Barnsley Town Hall (in front of) 12.30pm. There will be speeches from Linda Burgess, Dan Jarvis and Michael Dugher as well as from participating trade unions. We hope you will join us. The speeches will follow a wreath laying ceremony – on the plaque in the Town Hall Gardens – and we invite any individual councillor or the Labour Group, to lay a wreath.
Barnsley Needs A Pay Rise
Saturday April 29th: Barnsley Needs A Pay Rise: £10 an hour NOW! demonstration (May Day Bank Holiday weekend). Assemble 11am, Eastgate. The march will be led by the UNITE Brass Band and we will have a brief rally in the precinct followed by a longer rally in the Civic, starting at 12.30pm. We have speakers from 5 Labour Party affiliated unions, including Ian Hodson, National President of the Bakers Union, and Malcolm Clements will speak in a personal capacity. Thanks to those councillors who have emailed to give their apologies and those who have done similarly to say they are coming.
We hope that now a General Election has been called even more Labour Party members will be encouraged to come and demonstrate publicly through our town in support of what is clearly a very popular Labour Party demand.
